A book that revisits and reexamines the facets of Indian culture arguing that the culture of the St Thomas Christians of India, also known as the Syrian Christians of Kerala, can hardly be called “Hindu in culture.” since the non-Hindu cultures of India contributed much more than Hindu tenets in the formation of the culture of the early Syrian Christians of India. In the first centuries of present era (AD), the religions that had an overwhelming presence in South India, particularly in the geographical area that is called present day Kerala, were the aboriginal tribal religions and cults,avidianfolk religions, some archaic Sakta sects, Jainism and Buddhism, and the presence of the Vedic Brahmanism, which in due course assimilated other indigenous cults and became Hinduism, was very sporadic or even negligible.
