This book is the doctoral dissertation presented to the Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome, at the
faculty of Oriental Sciences. In it the spiritual thoughts of St. Ephrem are thoroughly
investigated, especially the recurring theme ‘life.’ Almost all authentic works of St.Ephrem are
analyzed, making the book a great contribution to the study of Syriac patrology.
