The book discusses the various factors that influenced Congar in the development of his theological reflections. The author clarifies Congar’s concept of’ the two-fold existence of the Church’ i.e. one that existed before ‘incarnation’ and the other, the Church that is historical. According to Congar ‘the Church existed in the Divine Will even before the creation of the universe’. The insistence of Congar, on ‘the Communion of all Christians’, urging all to ‘work for the full unity of the Church’, is well brought out in this work. The novelty of this work is that the author has succeeded in linking the various stages of divine revelation beginning from creation to its final consummation and of the establishment of the Church, with the unifying role of the Holy Spirit basing on the writings of Congar.
